The Tories aren’t building enough new houses and many of them are too expensive and badly constructed.

The Treasury Select Committee says the Tories’ cut in stamp duty will INCREASE house prices and the Government will fail to meet its housebuilding target unless it lets Councils build more homes.  But many of the houses that are built are too expensive and badly constructed and a major reason is that you can make more money hoarding land than building on it. As a result, the price of land can easily be half the cost of buying a home. Labour will build over 1 million homes (50% will be affordable or social housing). We’ll ban letting agency fees, give renters a package of new rights, and build 4,000 new homes for homeless people.geograph-4715442-by-Richard-Humphrey

    • Hi thanks for getting in touch about this matter. I take copyright seriously and the photo has always had the attribution at the bottom that it had when I first saw it. “cc-by-sa/2.0 – New houses being built… by Richard Humphrey – geography.org.uk/p/4715442. If you want it or a different wording printed below the photo let me have the details and I will amend it accordingly. Best wishes, Bob Blundell
